Certificate in Emergency First Aid at Work SCQF Level 6 First Aid at Work (FAW), based on a minimum 3 day course. Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), based on a minimum 1 day course. Learning First Aid is a rewarding and a valuable skill at home and within the workplace and could save a life of a loved one or family member. Both qualifications have a 3 year certification period. Re-qualification for FAW must be done over a minimum of 2 days, and for EFAW a repeat of the 1 day course is required. Preference for many of those needing training will be the EFAW course although some will require FAW. The decision between the two should largely be based on matching the skills you think you may need for your possible accidents/illnesses, to the course that gives you those skills. We also offer this course through our DCPC Periodic Training AIMS & OBJECTIVES Aims The aim of this course is to equip candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively administer First Aid to a casualty within the workplace. Objectives By the end of the course, you will understand your role as a First Aider, how to assess a situation in order to help a casualty, keeping yourself safe and others. Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure. Carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a casualty who is not breathing. Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock.
